Tom Brady shows that he’s not declining in win over Chargers
Tom Brady’s five-touchdown performance made a strong statement in a win.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is both one of the most respected players and certainly one of the most hated players in the NFL. Whether it’s the six Super Bowl rings or the endless success he endured as a New England Patriot, you either hate him or love him with very little in-between.
Fast forward to 2020, Brady is now out of the Patriot blue in the Buccaneer red. That’s right, he’s moved on to Tampa Bay for a fresh start after 20 years in Foxborough.
After Sunday’s Week 4 win over the Chargers in which he tossed five touchdown passes, Brady looks more energized and, though the Buccaneers are 3-1, he appears fresh and motivated. Plus, he now has the most all-time regular-season wins in NFL history with 222.
Is it fair to question whether he’s really back after beating a team with a rookie quarterback? Sure. Should we not forget the pick-six he threw earlier in the game? No, we should not. Yet, we must also give credit for playing well at crucial points in the game.
Tom Brady clearly isn’t done in pursuit of more titles
Given the circumstances of how he has been viewed by many as a “system-quarterback” when he was in New England, must we also forget the lack of help given to him in his final few years? While those weapons are certainly playing well under Cam Newton, it was evident that Brady needed a fresh start and rightfully so.
Now in Tampa, he has a vast arsenal at his disposal in running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. Plus, he does have a reputable defense at his disposal. So what really drives this man in general?
It’s simple. It’s the day he fell to the 199th selection in the 2000 NFL Draft and six quarterbacks were picked ahead of him. In addition, there is extra motivation inside of him as he is out to prove that he has yet to fall off a cliff, he is not the luckiest of all time and, most important of all, that he can win outside of New England.
If Brady feels that this wasn’t his best, he has a game against the Chicago Bears next week, who are led by a familiar face. Yes, it’s Nick Foles. The same quarterback that was showered in green and black confetti while Brady was escorted off the field in Super Bowl LII. However, one must come to a realization: Tom Brady is not done yet.
