Dallas Cowboys: Studs and duds from disastrous Week 4 loss
By Randy Gurzi
Stud: CeeDee Lamb
One wasn’t enough, so he decided to have two. Rookie CeeDee Lamb scored the first touchdown of his career early for Dallas and then put in another in the fourth quarter. It was another strong performance for the young man who had 79 yards on five receptions as well as the two trips into the end zone. He also added a 27-yard punt return and a three-yard run as he continued to find ways to get the ball — and it usually is a good thing when he does touch it.
Dallas wound up with Lamb falling to them at the No. 17 pick and while receiver wasn’t a need for them, he was simply too good to pass on. And through four games, he has been the real deal for them.
Dud: Trevon Diggs
After CeeDee Lamb fell to Dallas in the first round, a similar situation took place in the second. Trevon Diggs was a borderline first-round talent but was still there in the second for the Cowboys to snatch up. They love his upside and it’s easy to see why. In four games, he’s been on the field a lot and while he’s been targeted often by opposing quarterbacks, he continues to be running step for step with the wide receiver.
The problem is, he has yet to make the play to break any passes up. That was especially true in this one as he contested several passes against Odell Beckham, Jr. and Jarvis Landry but surrendered the catch. Eventually, he could be a star, but right now he’s struggling.
