Star wide receiver Davante Adams missed the Packers’ Week 3 win over the Saints and, while some people expected that to mean a big game for Marquez Valdes-Scantling, it was Allen Lazard who put forth the huge performance. But now Lazard has been put on Injured Reserve following a core muscle injury.

Adams is listed as questionable and a game-time decision for Monday night and he could return. But the fact that the team is waiting until just before kickoff to rule whether or not the No. 1 wideout is going to be active or not leads you to believe that he won’t be out there at 100 percent even if he does plays. That means other pass-catchers are going to have to step up.

While Valdes-Scantling was bracketed and locked down by New Orleans, the Falcons don’t have the talent in the secondary to do that. Despite the fact that he’s been a disappointment at times, the size and speed of MVS presents a matchup problem for Atlanta. The same can be said of second-year tight end Jace Sternberger, who has been relatively quiet to start the year.

That won’t be the case on Monday Night Football, however. Valdes-Scantling, who already has one big game this year, will come up with another as he’ll catch at least five passes for over 100 yards and a score. But Sternberger will have the real breakout performance, catching at least five balls himself for at least 75 yards and a touchdown.
