NFL Power Rankings, Week 5: Cowboys free-falling, Bills stay perfect
By Randy Gurzi
After a really hot start, the Arizona Cardinals have been brought back down to earth over the past two games. They lost in Week 3 to the Detroit Lions and then had a shot to get back on track this weekend against the Carolina Panthers, who came in with a record of 1-2. However, things got out of control quickly.
Arizona gave up a one-yard touchdown run to Mike Davis and an 18-yarder to Teddy Bridgewater to fall behind 14-0 in the first quarter. Before long, it was a 28-7 lead in the third quarter as the Panthers were in full control all game.
Quarterback Kyler Murray was frustrated by the defense all day, throwing for just 133 yards on 24 completions. He did have 78 yards rushing and threw three touchdowns but the touchdowns mostly came when the game was out of reach.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury had seemed to turn a corner in the first two games but the recent stretch has them looking an awful lot like the team we saw last year — an offense that has the potential to excite, but without much substance. They’ve quickly fallen behind in the AFC West and if they want to even think about a Wild Card, they need to get things figured out quickly.
