NFL Power Rankings, Week 5: Cowboys free-falling, Bills stay perfect

Even the biggest Gardner Minshew fans are having a hard time defending him anymore. He led the Jacksonville Jaguars to a win in Week 1 over the Indianapolis Colts 27-20 but after the past three weeks, that one feels like the anomaly. They have since dropped games to the Tennessee Titans (33-30), Miami Dolphins (31-13), and now the Cincinnati Bengals (33-25).
In all, Minshew’s numbers have looked good and that was again the case here. He finished with 351 yards and two touchdowns on 27-of-40 passing but it just wasn’t enough to get the job done. And that’s been the case as he can make the plays that the defense gives but not much else.
Throw that in with a struggling defense — which is what we have as they have now surrendered at least 30 points in three-straight games — and you have a 1-3 franchise that is just good enough to win enough games to miss out on the No. 1 overall pick. And if we are being honest, the Jaguars need that pick.
Their problem for years has been the lack of a franchise quarterback and their plan to tank for Trevor Lawrence could have fixed that. That’s still a possibility, but the Giants and Jets still want a word.
