Bold predictions for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5 against the Giants.

The first quarter of the 2020 season has been one of the most forgettable stretches of football in Dallas Cowboys history. After adding Mike McCarthy as the head coach, they were supposed to finally shed their old habits which included slow starts, playing to the opponents and atrociously bad play in the secondary.

Not only has this not happened, but they actually got worse in every way. Not only do they start slow now, but they wait until late in the third quarter to get going — whereas under Jason Garrett, they at least started playing hard in the second. As to playing to opponents, they have allowed every team to assert their will in the games this year. And the secondary play might be their worst ever, but it’s hard to argue it’s been any worse than the run defense, pass rush, or linebacker play.

If all that makes it sound as if the sky is falling, there’s a reason for that. Simply put, this is the most frustratingly bad Dallas teams we have seen in recent memory. Despite the defensive struggles, the talent on this roster is there and they should be at worst a good team, and at best a very good team.

Having said all that, the season is still salvageable. Somehow.

This is because their division is incredibly uncompetitive with the Philadelphia Eagles in first place with a record of 1-2-1. Dallas at 1-3 is tied in second with the Washington Football team, but the tiebreaker belongs to Washington since they won an in-division game. As for Dallas, they have not had a game in the NFC East yet, but that’s about to change with the New York Giants coming to town.

The 0-4 Giants are beatable, especially without Saquan Barkley, but Dallas cannot go into the game thinking it’s won. Instead, they have to fight from start to finish to finally score a convincing win. And with that being said, we look ahead to their Week 5 meeting with New York and pick out 5 bold predictions for the game.
