5 Best NFL games for fans to watch in Week 5
By Lucas Schuh
1. Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks
Some games we’ve discussed have the potential to be defensive struggles, like the Bills vs. Titans matchup. The Sunday Night Football bout between the Vikings and Seahawks should go in the opposite direction.
While the Vikings have been known for their defense over the years, things have changed. After seeing mass departures on that side of the ball this offseason, they are using a litany of new faces and many of them have struggled in those roles. However, the offense has recently started to pick up the pace a bit.
Minnesota no longer has Stefon Diggs but they’ve been able to mitigate the loss of the talented wideout with rookie Justin Jefferson, who the Vikings selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He’s not only been fantastic in his own right but he’s helped to open up the field a bit for veteran staple Adam Thielen.
Opposite of the Vikings in this game is the Seahawks. Quarterback Russell Wilson has been playing like an NFL MVP to this point as he’s finally being unleashed with regularity in this Seattle offense. According to NextGen Stats, Russell Wilson leads the league in the following statistical categories: Passer Rating, Completion Percentage, Completion Percentage over expected, touchdowns.
Wilson also has a great PFF grade of 95.0 Let’s also not forget Wilson also has great receivers in Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf.
But like Minnesota, the defense leaves a ton to be desired. Subsequently, you’re looking at two offenses with the capability to put a big number on the scoreboard facing off with defenses that tend to allow that to happen. If you love a good shootout where defense is an afterthought, this is the game for you.
