Justin Fields. 5. player. 52. . QB. Jacksonville Jaguars

Out of the gate in the 2020 season, Gardner Minshew had many rethinking the possibility of the Jaguars taking a quarterback. But this 2021 NFL mock draft reiterates what Minshew has shown since. He’s struggled to be a consistent performer and his lack of upside is clear.

Justin Fields has top-tier potential with a solid arm and elite athleticism at the position. When Ohio State kicks off on Oct. 24, Fields should solidify himself as the QB2 in this draft class.

59. . WR. Miami Dolphins. Ja'Marr Chase. 6. player

After taking Sewell with the pick owed to them by Houston, the Dolphins are back on the clock with another top-10 selection. They get young quarterback Tua Tagovailoa a legit weapon with Ja’Marr Chase from LSU. Chase may not be the prototype height-weight-speed guy but his feel for the position and the nuance to his routes and catching ability make him an absolute stud that should thrive with Tua.

7. player. 58. . QB. Washington Commanders. Trey Lance

Benching Dwayne Haskins was a shocking move by the Washington Football Team but it signifies what many speculated coming into the year: He’s not Ron Rivera’s choice for a franchise quarterback. Trey Lance, however, might be.

The North Dakota State star played what was ostensibly an exhibition game this past week before declaring. He’s young and still a bit raw but his arm is live and athleticism rivals that of Fields.

CB. Denver Broncos. Patrick Surtain II. 8. player. 45.

High hopes haven’t been met for the Broncos this season due to injuries and the fact that the team just isn’t as good as many expected them to be. With that, they need to beef up further and the secondary would benefit from adding a player of Patrick Surtain II’s caliber. The Alabama cornerback has all the physical tools you want from a CB1 in the league and continues to put forth good film showcasing his technique as a true man-cover player.
