Stud: Ben Roethlisberger, QB

Roethlisberger developed a reputation as a gunslinger and risk-taker early in his career. However, the 38-year-old is playing with a more conservative style this season. Through four games, Big Ben has ten touchdowns and only one interception. For reference, in 2010, when Roethlisberger set a career-low with five interceptions (minimum ten starts), the two-time Super Bowl champion threw three interceptions in his first four appearances.

Against the Eagles, Big Ben completed 27 of his 34 passes (79.4%) for 239 yards and three touchdowns. His 125.4 passer rating was his highest since Week 14 of the 2018 season. If Roethlisberger continues playing with this level of caution, the Steelers could reach a new level of offensive efficiency.

Dud: Pass defense

Pittsburgh finished third in pass defense last season, allowing 194.6 yards per game. However, the Steelers are giving up over 230 passing yards per game in 2020. None of Pittsburgh’s Pro Bowl defensive backs from last year are playing at a high level this season. While Steven Nelson intercepted Carson Wentz twice on Sunday, including a desperate fourth-quarter heave, the secondary still gave up 242 passing yards.

The Eagles averaged 207.5 passing yards per game through their first four matchups, meaning Philadelphia performed above their average against the Steelers. That isn’t acceptable, especially from a team that supposedly can rely on its defense.
