4. Mayfield throws two interceptions

After a phenomenal rookie season, Mayfield began struggling against all levels of NFL competition. Last season, he completed under 60 percent of his pass attempts while throwing 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. Mayfield is off to a better start this year, completing 61.2% of his pass attempts for nine touchdowns and four interceptions.

Despite his mediocre start, disaster is always around the corner for Mayfield. The former No. 1 overall pick threw two interceptions last week, but the Browns escaped the Colts because Philip Rivers returned the favor. Even though Pittsburgh’s secondary isn’t playing at an elite level this season, it’s still better than Indianapolis’. If the Colts got Mayfield twice, the Steelers should too.

When he throws 30 to 40 times a game, Mayfield is almost guaranteed to make two or three terrible attempts. If Pittsburgh’s defensive front puts a lid on Kareem Hunt, Mayfield won’t have any choice but to force the action.

3. Roethlisberger tops 300 passing yards

Big Ben isn’t taking many deep shots this season. Maybe that’s part of Pittsburgh’s game plan to limit turnovers and preserve his arm for later in the season. Perhaps the 38-year-old veteran doesn’t feel comfortable making those throws anymore. Either way, Roethlisberger might have to make some big plays if the Steelers are going to stay on top of Cleveland.

For all of their flaws, the Browns have an extremely talented offense. With so many weapons, they have to at least stumble into a few scores. Meanwhile, Roethlisberger has connected with Chase Claypool and JuJu Smith-Schuster on deep strikes in the past. Big Ben hit Smith-Schuster for 97-yard plays in 2017 and 2018, while connected with Claypool for 84 yards a few weeks ago.

Considering how well the Browns handle the run, Roethlisberger needs to put on a more dynamic performance than he has in recent weeks.
