These Chicago Bears will be critical to the team moving to 5-1 as they play the Panthers.

The Chicago Bears had a lot of pressure to at least not embarrass themselves in their Week 5 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They just had a horrible game in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts. The offense couldn’t move the ball and score just 11 points in quarterback Nick Foles‘ debut as the starter.

After the horrible performance, the Bears had a short week to prepare for Tom Brady and the Bucs. Brady was coming off of a game in which he threw five touchdown passes. The Bears surely couldn’t get into a shootout.

It didn’t look like a shootout would happen early in the game. In fact, it looked like the Bears again would struggle on offense when they quickly found themselves down 13-0. Foles got hot late in the second quarter, though, completing seven straight passes at one point and the Bears finally scored. The defense caused a big turnover and at the half, the Bears incredibly had the lead 14-0.

The teams traded field goals and Foles outplayed Brady down the stretch and helped the Bears get a huge win. They are now 4-1 even though the national media groans and moans about it.

Now the Bears take on the Carolina Panthers on 10 days rest. The Panthers are 3-2 but don’t have the defenses that the Colts and Bucs have. This is a winnable game for Chicago. Of course, the Bears don’t make anything easy so fans need to pack their heart medications to prepare for another exciting and frustrating game.

For the Chicago Bears to come away with a victory, there are some players who need to step up in Week 6.
