Five bold predictions as the Dallas Cowboys host the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football

The last time the Dallas Cowboys hosted the Arizona Cardinals at AT&T Stadium, there was one big similarity — the Cowboys were turning to a backup quarterback. This was way back in 2014 when Tony Romo was out with an injury and in his place was Brandon Weeden — who was making his first start for the Cowboys.

Weeden, who was a starter for the Cleveland Browns prior to his time in Dallas, was supposed to be able to find new life with the Cowboys. Instead, he struggled mightily in his tenure which included this game. Dallas lost 28 to 17 as Weeden threw two picks to just one touchdown.

Now, Dallas is again turning to a former starter — who also played in the AFC North. Andy Dalton was signed this offseason to back up Dak Prescott and will now take over for the remainder of the season. However, unlike Weeden, Dalton isn’t a player who never panned out but rather one who had a lot of success early in his career but struggled to get wins over the past few seasons.

If Week 5 was any indication, he might be just fine with the Cowboys. Dalton had to come on in relief of Prescott and he was able to complete 9-of-11 passes for 111 yards. More importantly, he led them on a game-winning drive, hitting Michael Gallup twice to set them up for the field goal that sent the New York Giants home with a loss.

Now Dalton looks to secure another big win in his home state. And here, we look ahead to the matchup and pick five bold predictions for the Cowboys in Week 6.
