Green Bay Packers: 5 Trade targets at the 2020 NFL trade deadline
By Joe Kipp
4. Shelby Harris, DL, Denver Broncos
Similarly to Steve McLendon, Shelby Harris is mostly known for being an efficient run stuffer. Harris has been one of the NFL’s best at doing so over the past three seasons. His rocky start as a seventh-rounder saw him bounce around the league until he landed with the Broncos in 2017.
Since coming on with Denver, Harris has recorded 26 tackles for losses. He also excels at rushing the passer in certain situations. In the last four seasons, Harris has batted down 17 passes at the line of scrimmage and recorded 15.5 sacks and 28 quarterback hits. He currently holds a PFF grade of 85.2 (subscription required).
Harris, 29, is currently serving out a one-year, $3 million contract he signed this past offseason. Because the Broncos are unlikely to make the playoffs this year, Denver could be willing to trade Harris for the right price. He would leave no dead cap space and would allow the Broncos to accumulate another draft pick.
The Packers could likely get by with sending a sixth-round pick to the Broncos for Harris. He’d immediately step in as an early-down contributor in defending the run while also adding some upside as a situational pass-rusher.
