The New England Patriots dropped a tough one at home to the Broncos in Week 6.

After the Week 5 matchup between the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos was pushed back to this weekend after the Patriots shutting down their team facilities due to COVID-19 concerns, the two squads finally were able to battle it out on Sunday afternoon in Foxborough.

While getting quarterback Cam Newton and a few other key players back after testing positive for COVID-19, the Patriots returned to action coming off an unexpected bye week in Week 5 to take on the Broncos on New England’s home field.

The Patriots weren’t able to take advantage of the extra rest to come out with a win, falling at home to the Broncos by a final score of 18-12.

In the game, New England struggled to get much rolling in the opening half of the contest, allowing Denver to score six points in each of the first two quarters while tallying just three points on the other end to bring the game to 12-3 at halftime.

In the second half of Sunday’s matchup, the Patriots tried to complete a late comeback with nine unanswered points in the fourth quarter, but the Broncos were able to do just enough to pull out the win.

With the win, Denver improves to 2-3 overall on the year and has now won two games in a row. In the loss, New England drops to 2-3 overall while suffering its first home loss of the year and now having lost two games in a row.

The Patriots will return to the field in Week 7 when they remain at home and take on the San Francisco 49ers next Sunday evening at Gillette Stadium. The Broncos get back to action in Week 7 next weekend for a tough matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday evening in Denver.

With the game now behind us, let’s take a look back at some studs and duds for New England in its contest against Denver.
