The Dallas Cowboys looked hapless and hopeless in Andy Dalton’s first start.

For Andy Dalton‘s first start at quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, the franchise somehow duped north of 20.000 fans into thinking that coming to AT&T Stadium for Monday Night Football would be worth their time. After an embarrassing 38-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, it’s clear those fans would’ve been better off eating a good meal at home and getting to bed early.

Though Dalton and the offense had nothing going early, the Cowboys much-maligned defense actually held their own through the first quarter, heading into the second frame in a 0-0 tie. Then any optimism about that side of the ball fell apart as Kyler Murray and Christian Kirk connected for two touchdowns while Arizona took a 21-3 lead into halftime.

With the way the offense was sputtering and turning the ball over, something they did four times on the night, the Cowboys never stood a chance. A garbage-time touchdown pass from Dalton to Amari Cooper was all Dallas could manage as they dropped to 2-4 on the season.

Despite another immensely frustrating loss, the Dallas Cowboys are still the NFC East leaders — but that’s more of a statement on how bad the division as a whole is than about Mike McCarthy’s team displaying any kind of quality. This team looks like an unmitigated disaster, allowing 31+ points in five straight games, not being able to hold onto the football and simply looking like a rudderless ship on the field.

Frankly, there’s not much positive to talk about the Week 6 loss for this team. So as we go through the Dallas Cowboys studs and duds from Monday night against the Cardinals, there are substantially more negative things to parse through than positives for a team that looks destined for a well-below-.500 finish for the 2020 NFL season.
