Decimated Eagles show resolve, take first place in NFC East with win
The Philadelphia Eagles rode a fourth-quarter comeback to take first place in the NFC East.
They were undermanned and trailing but the Philadelphia Eagles came out and pulled off a comeback over a long-time division rival. Down 21-10 in the fourth quarter, Boston Scott’s touchdown catch with 40 seconds left helped the Eagles grab a 22-21 victory over the New York Giants in Week 7. The win moves Philly to 2-4-1 on the season and first place in the NFC East — for now.
Carson Wentz was clearly handicapped throughout the night, especially when DeSean Jackson went out with an injury on a punt return play. Still, the North Dakota State product found a way to get a victory with 359 yards passing against a rival that he has had his way with through this career.
At the end of the game, however, Brandon Graham flashed a Super Bowl LII memory by forcing a fumble against Daniel Jones that sealed the come from behind victory as the Eagles recovered. The Eagles are now 89-86-2 over the Giants all-time and have won eight straight games over Big Blue.

Even in a win, the Eagles are clearly aware of the fact that they are decimated and it’ll take a lot to prove that they are for real.
No doubt a victory can cover the stench that is trouble but, with a majority of the roster in the infirmary, it will take all of Doug Pederson’s will and magic to bring this team together, the kind of will that brought them a Lombardi Trophy.
Scott is no Miles Sanders but he has done well when called upon. That said, if Sanders is still out, Scott has no choice but to step up. As for the receivers, they too must elevate their game. They certainly did it against the Giants but they must be consistent.
The defense, on the other hand, did enough in the end to get the win but they too are handicapped. They must get the requisite help they need or they will be burned out by the end of the season.

The Eagles won the game and they’ve earned their victory cheesesteaks — but to earn seconds or even a discount on their next order, they have to elevate or else the price will substantially increase.
