Dream Green Bay Packers trade targets at the 2020 NFL trade deadline.

Five games into the 2020 campaign for the Green Bay Packers, they host a 4-1 record after receiving their first defeat from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a lop-sided 38-10 blowout. In that game, quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw his first and second interception of the year in back-to-back drives in the first quarter of the game, with the first interception being the third pick-six of his career.

Apart from this outing, there have been several glimpses as to what is preventing this team from being a Super Bowl favorite, which has been featured predominantly on the defensive side of the ball. The struggle for the Packers in 2020 is not their run defense but their pass-rush.

It can be shown in the production of players like EDGE rushers Za’Darius and Preston Smith with a combined 5.5 sacks heading into Week 7 (Za’Darius with 5.0, Preston with 0.5). Za’Darius has attributed to five of the 11 sacks of the Green Bay Packers in 2020 and, while that’s appraising his contributions, it denounces the rest of the front seven.

On top of their middle-of-the-pack defense, the Packers have become increasingly thin on offense, as it appears as though they lose a big player with each passing week. In order to maintain the success they’ve built thus far in 2020, they need to bolster their depth at wide receiver.

In addition to the thin group at wide receiver is the even thinner group at tight end as Robert Tonyan was injured in their Week 6 matchup against the Buccaneers. In order to maintain their dynamic offense, the Packers need a reliable tight end who can block and catch when his name is called.

With all of this being said, the 2020 NFL trade deadline is approaching on Nov. 3. Joe Kipp already looked at five viable targets for the Packers at the deadline but, if they are going to swing for the fences, Green Bay should go after these dream players in a trade.
