1. J.J. Watt, DL, Houston Texans

Yes, you read that correctly. The Green Bay Packers should make a push for J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans. Let’s be honest here, the Texans aren’t going anywhere in 2020. They’re 1-5 on the season and they don’t draft until the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft after former head coach/general manager Bill O’Brien traded away their earlier selections. To fully commit to the future, they need to get those picks back. And that’s where the Packers come in.

Even if Green Bay doesn’t reach the Super Bowl this year, they’ll still have a draft pick no higher than No. 25. With Aaron Rodgers entering the late stages of his career, they have to be in win-now mode. By doing so, a first-round pick for the Packers won’t provide nearly as much value as acquiring Watt would.

Watt is a legend in Wisconsin. The Packers play in Wisconsin. Connect the dots and you have a perfect match. The Pack’s defensive line is almost non-existent after Kenny Clark, who has missed time due to injury. Their defensive ends are fans they picked up off the street to suit up.

It is impossible to emphasize how many problems would be solved on defense by adding Watt to this group. He can make a drastic impact on stopping the run, while also being able to get to the quarterback (an area the Packers have struggled to succeed in).

Just picture a defensive front with Kenny Clark, J.J. Watt, Za’Darius and Preston Smith and Rashan Gary. That is one of the most terrifying groups of defenders you’ll ever see. Then you add emerging superstar cornerback Jaire Alexander along with safeties Adrian Amos and Darnell Savage. This trade would obviously cost the most but the return value is second to none.
