Atlanta Falcons studs and duds from Week 7 collapse vs. the Lions.

The Atlanta Falcons continued on in the 2020 NFL season in Week 7 riding high off of grabbing their first win of the year last weekend on the road against the Minnesota Vikings.

This Sunday, Atlanta returned home to face off against another NFC North opponent when the Detroit Lions came into Mercedes-Benz Stadium to try and put a halt to the Falcons winning ways.

By the end of the contest between the two NFC squads, the Falcons ended the game in another disappointing way while losing in a late contest at home 23-22.

In the game, Detroit jumped out to an early lead after the first quarter, but Atlanta answered back before halftime to take over at the break. Trailing 7-0 after the opening frame, the Falcons outscored the Lions 14-3 in the second quarter to lead 14-10 at halftime.

To round out the game in the second half, the Falcons managed to pull away late in the game after a Todd Gurley rushing touchdown with just over a minute to play, giving Atlanta a 22-16 lead with under a minute to go. Unfortunately, Matthew Stafford and the Lions marched right down the field and scored as time expired to secure the victory in a surprising way.

With the win, Detroit improved to 3-3 overall on the season and has now won two straight games going into Week 8. In the loss, Atlanta moves back to its losing ways while dropping to 1-6 overall on the season. The Falcons also haven’t been able to win at home yet this year.

Atlanta gets back to action in Week 8 when it hits the road to play the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football in Carolina. Detroit returns to the field next weekend when it faces the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday afternoon in Detroit.

With the NFC showdown between the Falcons and Lions now over with, let’s go back and take a look at some studs and duds for Atlanta in the game.
