The New England Patriots entered the new week of the 2020 NFL season in Week 7 looking to end a two-game losing streak while jumping back up to the .500 mark on the year.

The Patriots would have a tough test at home on Sunday evening when welcoming in the San Francisco 49ers into Foxborough for a contest against the 49ers who were riding high off of a win in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Rams.

By the end of the game, New England was overmatched by San Francisco throughout the course of the game and resulted in the 49ers cruising to a 33-6 victory at Gillette Stadium.

In the first two quarters of the game, San Francisco jumped out to an early lead and held a stronghold onto the contest from the opening kickoff. After taking a 7-0 lead after the first quarter, the 49ers held a 16-3 advantage in the second frame to carry a 23-3 edge over the Patriots into halftime.

In the second half, San Francisco was able to pace the rest of the way to pull out the blowout road victory, outscoring New England 10-3 over the final two quarters to take a 27-point win. The 49ers managed to hold the Patriots without a touchdown for the entirety of the game.

With the win, San Francisco improved to 4-3 overall on the season while now having won two games in a row through seven contests. In the loss, New England drops even farther below the .500 mark with an overall record of 2-4, seeing its losing streak stretch to three straight.

The Patriots will get back to action in Week 8 when they travel to take on the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon in an important AFC East showdown in Buffalo. The 49ers will return to play in Week 8 next weekend when they travel to battle the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday evening in Seattle.
