Stud: Jakobi Meyers

One of the few positives that occurred for New England on Sunday was wide receiver Jakobi Meyers stepping up in a passing game that struggled throughout the entire game. Meyers led the receiving unit against the 49ers, recording team-best marks in both catches and receiving yards for the Patriots.

The wideout finished the contest with a total of four catches on six targets, adding 60 yards through the air. In an area that didn’t have much rolling for it, that being the passing attack, Meyers did manage to step up and try and lead the unit to try and get something going offensively.

Dud: Run defense

Throughout the course of the game, the Patriots defense struggled mightily against the 49ers run game, allowing San Francisco to run all over New England. As a team, the 49ers finished with 37 carries for a total of 197 yards and four touchdowns, including running for three touchdowns in the first half alone.

Leading the way for San Francisco’s rushing attack was Jeff Wilson Jr. with 17 carries for 112 yards and three touchdowns. The 49ers gave the Patriots a taste of their own medicine on the ground, and New England couldn’t limit San Francisco in that area of its offense.
