Pittsburgh Steelers studs and duds from a narrow win over the Titans to stay undefeated.

Going into their Week 7 bout, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Tennessee Titans were identical in their 5-0 starts to the 2020 NFL season.

The headlines soared with the noted fact that the winner of a matchup between two undefeated teams likely ends up in the Super Bowl was on the minds of both franchises.  In addition, this matchup was finally being played after being postponed earlier in the season when the Titans announced a COVID-19 outbreak within their organization.

Each team had a philosophy as to why they were unbeaten. The Steelers relied on their defense and a disciplined offense that echoes both Mike Tomlin and Hall of Fame coaches Bill Cowher and the late great Chuck Noll. The Titans, meanwhile, echoed the days of Eddie George and Earl Campbell with their heavy ground attack that was led by Derrick Henry.

The Steelers were looking to hand the Titans a stiff penalty of defeat and they did, but barely. After holding a 24-7 halftime lead, Pittsburgh escaped with a 27-24 victory to hand Tennessee their first loss of the season, ensuring the Steelers as the top seed and the only unbeaten team in the conference.

The Steelers were able to slow down Derrick Henry and put the ball in the hands of Ryan Tannehill in the first half until the Titans made it a game in the second half before falling short.

With a number of options to pick from for the best and worst from Pittsburgh in this game, it’s a tantalizing task to choose who to highlight. With that said, here were the studs and the duds in Pittsburgh’s squeaky win over Tennessee in the battle of unbeatens.
