4. Johnson needs to step up again

The Chicago Bears’ secondary has been fantastic this season. Safety Eddie Jackson leads all safeties with targets without allowing a touchdown. Cornerbacks Kyle Fuller and Jaylon Johnson have shut down opposing receivers throughout the season.

Fuller has allowed a league-low 46.2 percent completion rate. Additionally, opposing quarterbacks only have a 59.2 passer rating when targeting him. The rookie, Johnson, has allowed a 46.7 completion percentage. The two have allowed just two touchdowns combined this season.

Fuller has been a hard-hitting machine this season. He came up with a big hit that forced a fumble that was one of the biggest plays in the game in Week 5 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Teams will rather look Johnson’s way rather than Fuller. Against the Bucs, Tom Brady targeted Fuller eight times. In Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers, the targets were cut to just four.

Being a rookie, quarterbacks expect him to make rookie mistakes. That hasn’t really happened too much yet, however. In addition to just one touchdown allowed, he’s also had just three missed tackles. He’s been a solid cornerback for the Bears and a great pick in this year’s draft.

Johnson must continue his good play. Rams quarterback Jared Goff has trouble with the Bears defense. In two games against Chicago, he doesn’t have any touchdowns but has thrown five interceptions and has a 33.9 passer rating.

He already knows how good Fuller is so he’ll try to find out how good Johnson is. This might be the perfect time for Johnson to come up with his first career interception on a national primetime audience to solidify his presence in the NFL.
