New York Giants. 30. team. 31. . . Previous: 29th

New York Giants football in prime time doesn’t have the same ring to it that it used to. This past Thursday night, the Giants were on the road for a game under the lights in Philadelphia. A one-win team, they had just come off their first win the week prior, knocking off the Washington Football Team by a score of 20-19 and New York needed a stop on a two-point conversion to seal the win. That came after a 37-34 loss to the Dallas Cowboys the week before that, which was decided on a last-second field goal.

Again in Week 7, the Giants were going up against an NFC East rival and again, it came down to the final seconds of the game. New York had a 21-10 lead with just over six minutes to play but that’s when things fell apart. Philly scored quickly to get back within striking distance and then Daniel Jones and the Giants went to work trying to run out the clock.

Jones nearly got it done as he threw a great pass to Evan Engram, who dropped what would have been the game-clinching first down. Instead, the Eagles scored and got the win with a touchdown from Boston Scott at the 40-second mark in the final quarter.

With all that excitement, nothing stood out more than the run from Daniel Jones that was nearly a thing of beauty. Jones had kept the ball on a read-option play and bolted for what looked to be a 90-yard touchdown. Unfortunately for Jones, he ran out of gas and ended up stumbling and falling at the 10-yard line. It was still an impressive 80-yard play and the Giants did capitalize with a touchdown but it would have been nice for him to get the score on that play.
