New England Patriots: 5 Trade targets on offense at 2020 trade deadline
1. Will Fuller, WR, Houston Texans
At this point in the regular season, teams around the NFL are starting to realize if they have a legitimate chance to make the playoffs or if it’s time to start looking at the future. The Houston Texans are one of the latter teams who are likely not going to make a run to get into the postseason and that as a result could persuade them to look beyond the 2020 season and specifically gaining as many assets as possible.
With that said, a player who could see his way out of Houston at the trade deadline in early November is Texans wide receiver Will Fuller. And a player like Fuller would make for a really nice addition in New England.
The biggest issue for Fuller is his health and being able to remain on the field for a full season. If he is able to remain healthy, this guy is a top-notch wide receiver that could fit in very nicely in the Patriots offense.
After Houston surprisingly shipped off star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins this offseason in a trade with the Arizona Cardinals, Fuller quickly emerged as the top wide receiver with the Texans. Although he has dealt with some early-season injuries, the wideout has had some nice production when healthy in Houston.
Fuller, who is just 26 years old, is a nice young talent that is dominant at any stage of the field including the endzone. Him matched up alongside Julian Edelman as the top two wide receivers in New England could help Cam Newton and the offense tremendously and could open things up for the Patriots run game that is heavily relied upon.
If Houston is looking to gain assets and trade away Fuller before the Nov. 3 trade deadline, New England should at least inquire about the wide receiver and see if it is able to bring him to the Patriots for at least the rest of this season to see if he can continue to be one of the top wideouts on his team.
