Atlanta Falcons bold predictions for a Week 8 Thursday Night Football matchup with the Panthers.
Coming off of arguably their worst loss of the 2020 NFL season in Week 7, the Atlanta Falcons will quickly refocus on a new game ahead on Thursday Night Football in Week 8. The Falcons will take the national stage on Thursday night to face off against an NFC South opponent in the Carolina Panthers on the road at Bank of America Stadium.
Atlanta comes into the game with a record of 1-6 overall, coming off of a horrible collapse against the Detroit Lions last Sunday afternoon in Week 7, falling for the third time this season after holding a lead in the fourth quarter.
In the game, which saw Detroit win 23-22 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the Falcons took a four-point lead into halftime and ended up regaining the lead with just over a minute to go to put the team up 22-16 with about one minute to play in the contest. The Lions then answered with a 75-yard drive with a little more than 50 seconds remaining to tie the game as time expired and kick an extra point to pull out the comeback victory.
On the other side of the field on Thursday, Atlanta will face a Carolina team that comes into the game at 3-4 on the year. The Panthers most recently fell to the New Orleans Saints 27-24 in Week 7 on the road in New Orleans, marking the second straight loss entering Week 8.
In the game against the Saints, the Panthers fell behind New Orleans early and couldn’t quite catch up to finish out the contest while falling yet again to move below the .500 mark on the new year.
The Week 8 matchup between Atlanta and Carolina at Bank of America Stadium will be the second and final game between the two teams of the regular season, with the first game coming in Week 5 on Oct. 11 in Atlanta. The Panthers pulled away with a 23-16 win in that game.
Before the two sides battle it out on the national stage of Thursday Night Football, let’s look at three bold predictions that will take place for the Falcons.
