Bold predictions for the Detroit Lions massive game against the Colts in Week 8.

The Detroit Lions are back in the Motor City after a two-week road trip. The Lions took two invaluable wins as they resurrected their season. Now sitting at 3-3, Week 8 is the real examination for this team. The Lions welcome the 4-2 Indianapolis Colts to Ford Field, a strong, physical team with a host of young talent and veteran Philip Rivers under center.

It will not be easy for the Lions to pick up a win and move to 4-3 — but nothing ever is; ask any long-term Lions fan. Detroit stole a victory last time out in Atlanta as Todd Gurley’s inadvertent touchdown gave Matthew Stafford time to win the game.

What ensued was classic Stafford. An incredible drive to win the game and get Detroit to 3-3. It is now time for these Lions to make their playoff push. With Matt Patricia on the hot seat, a playoff push has to be the aim. Anything less may not save the third-year head coach’s job.

This team is playing for their head coach. Of that, there is no doubt. Plenty of former Lions teams have been soft, flaky and weak. While this team is flawed, they have the grit and determination that represents the city of Detroit. Now the Lions are back in their building, it is a must-win game.

It’s now or never for the 2020 Detroit Lions

The mandate was clear: The Detroit Lions need to be playing meaningful games in December. With the Lions two games back of the ailing Chicago Bears, the time for Detroit to make their move is now. Losing is not an option from now until December. Can the Lions step up and be counted when their fans need them most? Time will tell but the time to stand up starts Sunday against the Colts.

Patricia’s Lions will have to play a near-perfect game to win. Detroit is starting to click in all three phases and they must continue this upward trend of improvement. The team has the right balance of experience and youth and they must knit everything together to win.

It will be a fascinating chess match between the two coordinators who went toe to toe at Super Bowl LII. It will be a bruising, physical 60 minutes of football and, in true Lions fashion, it could come down to the last play. All that in mind, here are some bold predictions for what should be an enthralling contest.
