2021 NFL Mock Draft: Cowboys get Patrick Surtain II, Vikings land Trey Lance
By Randy Gurzi
(Pick via Seattle Seahawks): One of the picks the New York Jets got for Jamal Adams comes up here as they are back on the clock at No. 29. They already landed Trevor Lawrence and hopefully, they can convince him to stay by drafting a solid blocker for him in Alex Leatherwood from Alabama. Leatherwood is a technician who will have a long career in the NFL and teams shouldn’t worry too much about the concerns on his size. He’s a tackle in the NFL and will be fine.
Last season, the Kansas City Chiefs added Clyde Edwards-Helaire at the end of the opening round and he’s been quite the find. He’s now joined by Le’Veon Bell in the backfield which feels unfair when they already have Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce on offense.
They have weapons all over the place, so now they get some of the big nasties. This pick lands them Wyatt Davis out of Ohio State. Davis helps them keep Patrick Mahomes upright and is also going to help clear a lot of lanes for Bell and Edwards-Helaire.
Alejandro Villanueva has had a remarkable career but is going to be 33 next season. For that reason, the Pittsburgh Steelers look for a potential replacement, which they find in Samuel Cosmi out of Texas. Should Cosmi be able to land in the opening round, he would be the first Texas Longhorn offensive lineman to go in day one since 2002 — which is a weird stat for a school that used to litter the opening night of the draft.
The Green Bay Packers really needed to get some offensive firepower last season for Aaron Rodgers but instead, they traded up for his eventual replacement. Rodgers responded by having one of his best seasons as a pro.
Now, Green Bay responds by finally getting him another wideout to pair with Davante Adams. Bateman is a player who relies on his size and route-running ability to make plays and that should fit well with Rodgers.
