The best DraftKings NFL picks and values for Week 8 DFS fantasy football.

As injuries continue to pile up during bye week season, dependable bargains on DraftKings and in fantasy football at large are about as common as sensible political discussions in social media comments. Therefore, we’ve done the hard work to help uncover hidden lineup treasures that will help you rake in some cash in Week 8 DFS play on DraftKings.

Wild winds across the Great Lakes region quietly pose a threat to those hoping to finish above the cash line in Week 8 NFL DFS contests. As of press time, we’re not as concerned about the game in southern Ohio between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Tennessee Titans, but a downward shift in weather patterns could change things.

Downfield passing attacks take the biggest hit in these kinds of conditions. As of the moment, windy weather has us rethinking our investments in the following contests:

  • New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears
  • New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills
  • Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
  • Las Vegas Raiders at Cleveland Browns

We love the matchup between Baker Mayfield (CLE vs. LV, $6,100) and Derek Carr (LV at CLE, $5,500) in what would likely be a shootout under ordinary circumstances. We still think both should salvage respectable stat lines, and while both are still viable starts at their prices, our stratospheric expectations for them have diminished.

We’ll never tell anyone to sit Davante Adams (GB vs. MIN, $8,800), especially when up against a very beatable secondary. We expect Adams to see a dozen or more targets on underneath routes; however, it’s a tall order to expect him to post a return commensurate with his status as the top-priced player on the main slate at any position.

Adam Thielen will have his hands full with Philadelphia native Jaire Alexander, a product of Louisville who is emerging as one of the best cover corners in the NFL. Weather be damned, this means Justin Jefferson (MIN at GB, $6,500) should see a target volume similar to Adams; the tall, slippery rookie out of LSU runs a full route tree and boasts versatile route running skills that belie his young age.

Blustery conditions should take the wind out of the sails of John Brown and Stefon Diggs, but we like the high floor that Cole Beasley (BUF vs. NE, $5,300) brings. However, we’re not as high as we otherwise would be on Henry Ruggs (LV at CLE, $4,900), Nelson Agholor (LV at CLE, $4,700), Rashard Higgins (CLE vs. LV, $4,200), or Donovan Peoples-Jones (CLE vs. LV, $3,800); none are bad plays at their prices, but all have lost luster as preferred value picks since the week began.

With these four games in flux, and the Arizona Cardinals, Washington Football Team, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Houston Texans on bye, where does that leave NFL DFS enthusiasts? We sort through the rest of the main slate to uncover Week 8’s best bargains on DraftKings, starting with the quarterback position.

DraftKings NFL Week 8 values: Quarterbacks

Selecting a quarterback who can hurt a defense with his legs is generally wise, so we can certainly endorse Lamar Jackson (BAL vs. PIT, $7,400) and, to a lesser extent, Josh Allen (BUF vs. NE, $7,000), despite matchup and weather challenges, respectively. Quarterback is also a position where values are fairly easy to find, however, so while we like Patrick Mahomes (KC vs. NYJ, $8,100) and Russell Wilson (SEA vs. SF, $7,800), there are better values to be had for significantly less.

Among quarterbacks we like in the $6,000 to $6,900 range, we’re high on Justin Herbert (LAC at DEN, $6,900), who ranks 8th in the NFL in rushing yards per game by a quarterback (four or more games played), and is averaging over 300 passing yards per contest. We also like Ryan Tannehill (TEN at CIN, $6,800) against a Cincinnati Bengals defense that just allowed five passing touchdowns to Baker Mayfield (CLE vs. LV, $6,100), sans Odell Beckham, Jr..

Joe Burrow (CIN vs. TEN, $6,100) and Jimmy Garoppolo (SF at SEA, $5,400) are our preferred targets at the position, offering the best marriages of price and expected production. If weather concerns subside, we’ll also put Mayfield and David Carr (LV at CLE, $5,500) into our lineups.
