New England Patriots: Studs and duds from fourth straight loss vs. Bills
Stud: Sticking with a tough Bills squad
Although the game ultimately ended up in a loss and there aren’t any moral victories in the NFL, one positive New England could take away from the game is sticking with a tough Buffalo team on the road while putting itself in a position to win the game late.
The Patriots were in a solid position to perhaps tie the game or even take the late lead with under a minute to go on Sunday, but a costly error on offense turned the ball over and ended the game before we could find out what that outcome could have been.
New England hasn’t looked great the last few weeks, but the Patriots at least stuck with the Bills in Week 8.
Dud: Loss could be the last straw
The final dud that comes out of the loss for New England this weekend is that this latest loss could be the final straw already in the 2020 season and the team could now be focused more on the future with the idea of returning the postseason slipping away week by week.
With the defeat, New England now drops even further down in the AFC East standings and AFC standings, moving to a brutal record of 2-5 overall going into the ninth week of the regular season next weekend.
That could push Bill Belichick and company to look at the entire team and see who they want to be a part of the organization moving forward. Especially with the trade deadline looming, we could see some changes taking place soon in New England.
