2. New England Patriots vs. Buffalo Bills
When the New England Patriots signed Cam Newton to replace Brady at quarterback, the outlook for the team changed in the eyes of man. The former league MVP seemingly put the Pats in position to repeat as AFC East champions and maintain their hold on the division. Things have gone south quickly as of late, however.
After a 2-1 start, the Patriots have lost their last three games and have looked quite troublesome in doing so. They’ve been outscored 77-28 with an offense that’s struggling to move the ball and a defense that is a far cry from the stalwart unit they were a year ago. And that step back has opened the door wide open for the Buffalo Bills.
In stark contrast to their division rivals, the Bills have taken a noticeable step forward this season. Quarterback Josh Allen has progressed in his development in a major way, which has made the offense much more dangerous. Oddly enough, though, the vaunted Buffalo defense hasn’t been at the same level it’s been in recent years.
Buffalo actually comes into this game having lost two of their last three games with the one victory being only an 18-10 win over the lowly Jets. There is plenty of history between these two teams and, with heavy playoff implications, this could be a huge matchup for both franchises moving forward.
