52. . . Previous: 31st. Jacksonville Jaguars. 31. team

The Jacksonville Jaguars are still in the running for Trevor Lawrence and there’s a chance the Clemson quarterback could be rooting for them — simply so he won’t have to join the New York Jets organization. Of course, he probably is rooting for a better team than the Jets or Jaguars but at this point, the Jacksonville organization has a lot more going for them than the Jets. Mainly, they have hope.

That hope comes in the form of a new regime. There’s no way they’re returning Doug Marrone next season and that means they could bring in a great staff to work with Lawrence. No, it isn’t guaranteed, but there’s hope which is important.

They also have some decent weapons on their offense with James Robinson playing well as a rookie. There’s also D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault, who can be a solid combination at wideout.

On top of that, the front office has shown a willingness to spend big money in the past. They made it to the AFC Championship Game in 2017 due in large part to some of their free-agent signings and while they dumped a lot of salary this offseason, they did show they have no fear in loading up for a run.

This season is surely a lost one, but the Jaguars have been playing for 2021 since about halfway through the 2019 season. We are getting close.
