NFL trade deadline blockbuster No. 3: Will Fuller to the Ravens

The most panicked reaction to what transpired in Week 8 would be to say that the Baltimore Ravens should trade for an offensive tackle. After all, star left tackle Ronnie Stanley was lost for the year in Sunday’s loss to the Steelers with a broken ankle. Having said that, Baltimore might be alright in replacing him as they can move Orlando Brown Jr. to the left and slot in veteran D.J. Fluker on the right side.

But one shocking aspect of the Ravens this season is how often their offense has struggled, particularly in the passing attack. Lamar Jackson has looked a far cry from the form that won him NFL MVP honors a season ago and his mistakes have proved costly, most recently a pick-six giving Pittsburgh an early advantage on Sunday.

While Jackson needs to be better, the Ravens also need more reliable weapons in the passing offense. Marquise Brown has not yet arrived and Mark Andrews hasn’t been the player he was last season. So why not take a look at the Texans’ potential fire sale and pursue a player such as Will Fuller?

Fuller’s biggest issue has always been health but he’s remained on the field this season and, despite Houston’s struggles, has been dynamic. His speed and vertical ability fit the Ravens’ mold but he’s a more versatile receiver than he gets credit for with the ability to win in the short and intermediate areas. He could open up the field for Jackson and the offense to take a titanic step forward.
