These 5 NFL teams should be thinking about the future and tanking the rest of 2020.

Week 9 of the 2020 NFL season is upon us and after all the teams have played at least seven we have a good idea of who has a chance of making the playoffs and who is going to be on the outside looking in. There are also several teams out there that are in that uncomfortable gray area where they could make a run if the chips fall their way or could fade into mediocrity if they do not.

For those teams in the middle of the pack whose seasons could go either way, there are several that need to embrace tanking to build for the future.

The teams we are talking about in this article are not the clear bottom rung of the NFL like the New York Jets that have no choice but to be awful or teams like the Cincinnati Bengals that are battling but are trying to build a winning culture.

We are focusing more so on teams that have some quality players in place but have either suffered massive injury loss, have had bad luck with scheduling, or are just a couple key pieces from truly being contenders.

Let’s jump right in and take a look at the teams that need to “trust the process” and tank for the future of their teams by trading away players or giving chances to younger players on the roster.
