Dallas Cowboys shore up their roster in this 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft

Jerry Jones doesn’t want to hear about tanking. The Dallas Cowboys owner and self-appointed general manager was asked about the notion that the team punts on the 2020 season while appearing on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.

The idea was that the 2-6 Cowboys, who are down to either Garrett Gilbert or Cooper Rish as their starting quarterback, should try and lose their remaining games and position themselves for a great draft pick in 2021 when they are healthy again at quarterback and along the offensive line.

Jones went on one of his typical long rants that isn’t very easy to decipher. One thing he did say that made sense was that “tanking has nothing to do with the performance of a player.” Meaning he still expects the players to give his all. From there, he started talking about the idea of getting some younger players reps.

"“Could you make a decision to play a younger player more or a player that you’re going to be pretty firm that you’re going to be going forward with in contract wise than a different situation? And the answer is — I can see that, yeah. I can see that you make sure that you get these guys those reps.” — Jones said via Patrik Walker of CBS Sports"

So in short, they want to see what they have now with some of their young guys, before considering what will happen in 2021. Or at least that might be what he said.

While Jerry might not be ready to look ahead to the 2021 NFL Draft, we are. And that’s exactly what we do here in this seven-round mock draft — which was done using The Draft Network’s mock draft simulator.

And with that, we are on the clock with the Cowboys first pick in the draft.
