Dallas Cowboys re-tool roster in 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft
By Randy Gurzi
What was once a strength has now become a weakness, and the Dallas Cowboys address that by taking Walker Little with their second-round pick in this 2021 NFL Mock Draft. It wasn’t that long ago when Dallas had what was considered the premier offensive line in the NFL.
They had three former first-round picks (Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, and Travis Frederick), a second-round pick (Connor Williams), and an undrafted free agent in La’el Collins (who should have been a first-round pick) as their starters.
Now, only Martin is on the field for Dallas as both Collins and Smith are on IR and Frederick retired ahead of the season following a bout with Guillain-Barré syndrome that cost him his 2018 campaign. Making matters worse, Dallas is also without Joe Looney, who was the replacement for Frederick and they also had to go without Cam Erving for five weeks when he was hurt.
While there’s hope they can get healthy in 2021, there has to be legitimate concern about Tyron Smith. Their top pick in 2011, Smith has had several issues when it comes to staying healthy as he hasn’t played a full 16 games since 2015. At this point, they might need to consider moving on and that’s why they land Walker Little here.
The only concern with Little is that he too has had some injury concerns as he was out for all but one game in 2019 with a knee injury. Even so, he’s a first-round talent that could fall to Dallas in the second round. That’s worth the investment.
