Dallas Cowboys re-tool roster in 7-round 2021 NFL Mock Draft

(Pick Via Detroit) – This is the pick the Dallas Cowboys added in their recent trade with the Lions for Everson Griffen. It wasn’t the worst move for them as it allowed them to get some of their younger talent on the field and afforded them an extra pick in this draft. With that pick, they build some of their interior line depth with the selection of South Carolina’s Sadarius Hutcherson.
While playing for the Gamecocks, the redshirt senior has spent time at both guard and tackle but his NFL home should be in the interior. He’s raw but he’s incredibly powerful and if he does get pressed into action, he’s a player who can move defensive linemen in the running game. Dallas’ line was once revered for it’s nasty nature, and this is a kid who can help in that regard.
With their final pick in this seven-round mock draft, the Cowboys add another linebacker with the selection of Erroll Thompson from Mississippi State. A 6-1, 250-pound MIKE linebacker, Thompson is an old school player known for his willingness to punish the ball carrier. Like Tedarrell Slaton who was picked up earlier in this mock, Thompson slides due to the fact that he’s seen as a two-down player.
Even with that being the case, he’s a leader on the Bulldogs defense and he has no problem finding the football — something the linebackers currently in Dallas struggle with.
