Aaron Rodgers was on-point leading the short-handed Packers over the depleted 49ers.

Last season in two meetings against the San Francisco 49ers, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers were embarrassingly putrid. Fast forward to 2020, and the tides have turned as Rodgers’ four touchdown passes and 305 yards passing pushed Green Bay to a 34-17 win and a 6-2 record on the season. San Francisco meanwhile, drops to 4-5.

Coming into Thursday night’s game, both sides were facing a list of injuries, particularly San Francisco. Moreover, both teams were dealing with players being placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list. Still, the old saying of play with what you got came to fruition.

As for Rodgers, he simply used what he had, particularly Davante Adams, who caught 10 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown. On the whole, the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback was pristine, going 25-of-31 for 305 yards and four touchdowns.

Rodgers had plenty of time to work given how the Green Bay defense stepped their game up from a year ago in which they were blown off the field in both matchups.

Aaron Rodgers reinserted his name in the MVP conversation in the Packers win.

Players like Russell Wilson and Tom Brady are in the discussion for league MVP. Rodgers, on the other hand, must enter the discussion as well after dropping out following an early-season push.

Throughout his career, Rodgers was disappointed over the fact that San Francisco passed on him in the 2005 draft and he has struggled against his hometown team. Before Thursday’s victory, including postseason meetings, Rodgers ‘record the Gold Rush was 4-6. Now, he is just one game under .500.

The Packers were comfortably ahead at halftime and Rodgers was cruising as if he never lost a step. Though his performance at Tampa Bay was questionable, he still is among the league’s best. Given the fact that he and his team continue to put distance between themselves and the rest of the NFC North while also inch closer to the playoffs, it’s wise to not count this man out.

Yes, San Francisco was severely undermanned. But Green Bay was without players themselves, including All-Pro caliber left tackle David Bakhtiari. Regardless, Rodgers got it done and he’s not only in the league MVP discussion but also in the running for a high playoff seed.
