The Dallas Cowboys need to make some moves for the 2021 season.

There are a plethora of free agents in 2021 for the Dallas Cowboys as they have several players who were signed to a one-year contract, as well as a few former draft picks who are in the final year of their contracts. That means the front office is going to have a lot of decisions to make when it comes to their 2021 roster.

Of course, there’s still half a season left in 2020 but the fact is, at 2-6 the Cowboys need to have one eye already on the future. This is already happening, as several young players have been given more playing time recently as they want to use this time to scout their own players.

As for the upcoming free agents, we are set to look ahead at six of them and pick three players who need to be retained and three they can move on from comfortably.

No brainer: Dak Prescott

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott was playing on the one-year franchise tag and for the first time in his career, he suffered an injury that cost him playing time. Prescott broke his ankle in Week 5 and at the time, he was leading the NFL in passing yards.

Since he’s been out, the Cowboys offense has done nothing but drive up his price tag in 2021. Andy Dalton and Ben DiNucci were both significant downgrades from Prescott and it’s unlikely they will be any more impressed with Garrett Gilbert or Cooper Rush.

With all that being said, the Cowboys have to keep Prescott — which is why he isn’t counted in the remaining three to keep and three to dump. Dak is the most important player on this team and they can’t go into 2021 with him unsigned.
