FanDuel NFL picks and lineup advice for Week 9 DFS fantasy football.

Welcome back to another week of FanDuel DFS advice. Week 8 was a particularly brutal week for DFS fantasy football as it was incredibly hard for your lineup to cash out unless you played one of a few players. Dalvin Cook, Davante Adams and DK Metcalf all had massive days and Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers all came through at the quarterback position.

To put into perspective how low scoring was across the board in Week 8, you normally should expect to cash out if you score over 140 points in most cash formats. However, in Week 8, 110 points was the cutoff in most contests, meaning a terrible week on average would have been enough to cash out last week.

Looking ahead to Week 9, the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles are all on bye. In addition, The New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots and New York Jets all have night games, so those players will not be available for play in the main slate.

When talking about players I will reference the salaries and salary cap of a typical FanDuel tournament. I will also show a complete lineup, which consists of nine positions: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, FLEX, DEF. The players referenced will all be from the main Sunday game slate. Note that your individual strategy should change based on the type of formats you enter, and I will reference strong plays in cash and tournament formats.

Without further ado, here are FanDuel NFL DFS picks for Week 9 of the 2020 season.

FanDuel NFL Week 9 Picks and Advice: Quarterbacks

The quarterback position is incredibly top-heavy this week with a lot of studs available for play. However, the usual middle-priced QBs with top-five upside are not there this week. Therefore, I would highly recommend getting one of the top quarterbacks into your lineup this week, regardless of format.

Of the top quarterbacks, the best value is Josh Allen ($8,200). Even though he has fallen from his MVP level season the past couple of weeks, he is still in a great spot to destroy a terrible Seattle defense through the air and on the ground and is a great price as well. Russell Wilson ($9,000) is also a fantastic play on the other side of the ball as always and I would definitely advise building a few lineups around this game as it has an over-under of 55 and two struggling defenses.

Justin Herbert ($7,900) is also a great bet to continue his hot streak against a below-average Las Vegas defense. As mentioned before, there are very few appealing mid-range options this week, although if you want to be contrarian in a big tournament and play a QB with a low roster percentage, there are still some solid sleepers.

Drew Lock ($7,200) is coming off a big game and gets to face a league-worst pass defense in Atlanta. Derek Carr ($7,000) is extremely underpriced considering he has been solid this year and has a great matchup against a Chargers team that finds themselves in shootouts week in and week out.

Another sneaky play is Matthew Stafford ($7,500), as he has a shot to play but anyone making their lineup before Sunday will likely look right past him. He is coming off his best game of the year against a tough Indianapolis defense and now gets a much softer matchup against Minnesota.

As for quarterbacks I am fading this week, there is almost no reason to play Lamar Jackson ($8,100) against the Indianapolis Colts, especially when Josh Allen is only $100 more expensive. Jackson has just not been good, though his running makes him serviceable for fantasy football.

Serviceable is not going to cut it in DFS though, where you want to pick the top QB on the week, not the tenth. I am also avoiding Ryan Tannehill, as his matchup with Chicago heavily limits his upside and while he could go for 250 and 2 touchdowns, that will not win you any cash in DFS.
