FanDuel NFL Week 9 Picks and Advice: Wide Receiver

There is plenty of depth at wide receiver this week, with plenty of great sleeper picks. This allows you to spend up at quarterback and running back and still feel confident in your receiving core.

Of the top receivers, Julio Jones ($8,200) could be in for a massive workload if Calvin Ridley ($8,000) is to miss. DeAndre Hopkins ($8,800) and Tyreek Hill ($8,300) are weekly plays with Hopkins being the better cash play and Hill always a tournament-winning candidate. However, my favorite plays this week are the mid-priced receivers.

Stefon Diggs ($7,600), Keenan Allen ($7,500), and Tyler Lockett ($7,400) are all great plays. Similarly, John Brown ($5,500) and Mike Williams ($6,200) are great values as the second receivers on their team in high scoring matchups. Consider pairing your favorite receivers this week with their respective quarterback, such as Diggs and Brown with Josh Allen.

Brandin Cooks ($6,100) and Diontae Johnson ($6,000) are also high-upside plays with great matchups. If you want to get real sneaky, Jerry Jeudy ($5,700) and Darnell Mooney ($5,500) have great matchups and have both flashed the ability to make a big play, though their upside is capped by poor quarterback play.

As for receivers I am avoiding, the Vikings receivers may fall victim to Dalvin Cook for the second week in a row. Kirk Cousins only threw 14 passes as Cook ran all over the Packers in Week 8 and, if Stafford can’t get healthy in time for their Week 9 game, we may see more of the same.

Terry McLaurin ($7,200) is likely to be shadowed by James Bradberry, who held him to seven receptions on twelve targets for 74 yards when they first met. DeVante Parker ($6,300) is also too much of a risk at his price and, even though he caught a touchdown in Tua Tagovailoa’s debut, he was only targeted two times.
