2. Anthony Brown, Cornerback

There were two moves, or lack thereof, that really infuriated the Cowboys fan base in 2020. One was their indecision with Dak Prescott. The front office drug their feet and in the end, it will cost them millions as we have all seen Dak’s value grow significantly over the past two seasons — and it might have gone through the roof once he was lost and they saw what life without No. 4 was like.

The other non-move that drew heavy criticism was their decision to let Byron Jones walk in free agency. Jones had performed incredibly well over the past two seasons and landed a huge contract with the Miami Dolphins. Dallas, on the other hand, brought in a bunch of guys to try and replace Jones and re-signed Anthony Brown.

The former sixth-round pick signed a three-year deal and while his numbers on that contract weren’t crazy, it was money that could have gone toward keeping Jones. As for Brown, he’s been a versatile player but he’s also struggled to stay healthy in recent seasons.

In 2019, he played in just nine games and he’s already missed three this year. On top of that, he’s been having his least effective season as a pro which makes it hard to justify keeping him on the books in 2021 with a cap hit of nearly $6 million.
