Minnesota Vikings: Studs and duds from huge Week 9 win vs. Lions
Stud: Continuing win streak, finally winning at home
One of the biggest takeaways from this game for Minnesota was the fact that it was able to continue its winning ways while finally being able to get into the win column at home this year.
The Vikings win over the Lions marks the second straight win for the team, having recently taken down the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. Along with the win, Minnesota improves to 3-5 overall, into a tie with Detroit (3-5) for third place in the NFC North standings and also improve to 1-3 at home this year, the first win on its home field so far in 2020.
The Vikings will have the opportunity to make a potential midseason run to get back to the .500 mark on the season, and Week 9 was another positive step in that direction.
Dud: Giving Lions hope late
With the Vikings up 27-10 going into the final frame, it looked like the Vikings would be able to coast to a victory at home while possibly even resting some of their players late in the contest.
But the Lions battled back into the game a bit over the final quarter, outscoring the Vikings 10-7 in the fourth quarter alone. It didn’t ultimately matter in the end, with Minnesota still managing to come away with a 14-point win at US Bank Stadium, but you never want to give a team hope late in the game to try and potentially pull off a comeback.
