Breaking down Sunday’s best games in NFL Week 9.

Things in the NFL got weird in Week 8. Whether it was the Packers falling to a Vikings team they were expected to dominate or the Dolphins looking like a defensive juggernaut in a win over the Rams or the Browns and Raiders being locked in a defensive struggle amid bad weather, it was one of those weeks that has to be an anomaly. But Week 9 could hold plenty of entertainment and surprises as well.

Shocking upsets last week have set the stage for a Week 9 slate in which many teams with similar records will face off. Not only should that mean quality games but the results on Sunday could also have a big effect on the playoff picture at midseason.

So where should fans be turning their eyes to on Sunday? Let’s dive in as we rank the five best NFL Week 9 games on the Sunday slate.

5. Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills

Both the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills hold the lead in the respective divisions coming into Week 9 but both also have only a slim lead over the second-place teams.

The former is coming off a big division win in San Francisco last week, winning 37-27. They now sit at 6-1 on the season on the back of quarterback Russell Wilson. Though he’d never received a single MVP vote prior to this year, he’s the favorite to win the award this season. He’s been unstoppable, enjoying the best season of his already accomplished career.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen has also enjoyed a breakout season in 2020. While Buffalo has traditionally been known for their defense under head coach Sean McDermott, the script has flipped this season with Allen and the offense leading the way to a 6-2 record thus far.

At the same time, Allen has struggled with inconsistency as of late. He started off the year right with Wilson in the MVP conversation but has since dropped back after some paltry performances against teams like the Titans, Chiefs, Jets and Patriots. Perhaps playing a questionable Seattle defense is the recipe for a bounce-back game.

With high stakes within each division, both these teams need a win in Week 9, which should make this one quite enjoyable to watch on Sunday.
