Chris Herndon has played incredibly poorly in the 2020 season. Having been such a bright spot in his rookie year and then missing his second season due to injury and suspension, Jets fans were hoping to see him produce the same kind of numbers as he did in 2018. Instead, Adam Gase has started Ryan Griffin over him on countless occasions and, so far this year, has only 14 receptions to his name.

Calls from fans have blamed Gase for his regression and claimed that he has been misused by him. Whether Gase stays into next season or not, the Jets should aim to get another tight end in the 2021 draft to get support for Lawrence.

Nick Eubanks offers a great opportunity to acquire this support the Jets will need to give to Lawrence. Eubanks does need to work on his blocking, but he is athletic and fantastic at gaining separation. If he can shake off his injuries he’s been carrying into this season, he could be a great addition to the depth charts.

The Jets linebacker group has struggled this year with injuries piling up on top of the assumed leader, C.J. Mosley, opting out of the season due to COVID-19 concerns. With this fifth-round pick, the addition of Pete Werner could be one that is very useful to help alleviate those woes.

At Ohio State, Werner has shown signs of being a competent pass rusher and has the build to occupy gaps made by the offense. He has been effective for the Buckeyes over the last three years and could be a useful asset to a weak Jets defense.

After a promising 2019 season, in which Tamorrion Terry caught 60 passes for 1,188 yards at an average of 19.3 per reception, the 6-4 receiver states a claim to be a real steal here late in the fifth round. He secured nine touchdowns for the Seminoles in 2019 and his average yards per catch on these touchdowns was a mouth-watering 58 yards.

He is agile for a player his size and possesses good speed. To be successful for the Jets, he must work on ironing out the drops he makes. If Terry can work on this in his final season in Florida State and once he arrives in the NFL, he could add definite strength to the Jets receiver corps.

With no seventh-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Jets use their final selection to land defensive tackle Cory Durden out of Florida State. Durden is a good finisher and led the Seminoles in pressures in 2019 with 47.

He can also be deployed as an edge rusher, meaning he could be a high-end utility player for New York, someone who can come in as injury cover which the Jets have lacked this year, while also playing the versatility to play more than one position to a good level. Durden could rise in the draft pecking order with a good 2020 season but this would be a good acquisition to cap off the draft for the New York Jets.
