2021 NFL Draft: 5 Prospects raising their stock this season
2021 NFL Draft riser No. 2: Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
Injuries are part of the game and no one knows that more than Florida wide receiver Kadarius Toney. Gator fans will tell you, Toney is the type of player you want to see with the ball in his hands. He’s a dynamic weapon who can line up all over the field. You could say he’s reminiscent of Percy Harvin, even if not quite as electric.
In 2018, he was used as more than a receiver, averaging 11.4 yards per carry. Last season, Toney played in seven games where he averaged over 19 yards per catch. Here we are in 2020 and there’s been no shortage of big-time plays. Toney stepped up as the Gators’ go-to guy in the early part of the season.
Through the first five games, Toney has caught 29 passes for 339 yards and a career high six touchdowns. He also added 11 rushes for 8 1 yards and a touchdown. The Gators wide receiver is limitless in terms of usage thanks to his ability to run after the catch. He turns into a running back in the open field with the ability to start-and-stop and make defenders miss.
If an NFL team needs an emergency or wildcat quarterback, Toney can do that too. With the recent success of players like Deebo Samuel and Laviska Shenault, Toney could hear his name called early in the 2021 NFL Draft.
