49. Best NFL Player Born in Wisconsin – J.J. Watt

Defensive end J.J. Watt has become quite the icon for the NFL and the Houston Texans these days. Born in Wisconsin, Watt has redefined the defensive end position thanks to all the intensity and aggression he brings to the table.

It was back in 2012 that Watt had one of the greatest seasons anyone can ask for at defensive end. He totaled 69 tackles and 20.5 sacks. He even posted another 20.5 sacks in 2014 which has so far been his golden year. He continues to be the Texans’ defensive anchor and proves that Wisconsin can also churn out some incredible athletes.

Watt continues to be a force to reckon with as he’s not done yet leaving his imprint on the NFL. At the rate he’s going, he’s off to being one of the best defensive ends in NFL history. It’s expected in 2020, Watt will officially reach over 100 career sacks.

Career Accomplishments

  • First player in NFL history back in 2014 to have two 20+ sack seasons in a career
  • First defensive lineman to have scored at least five touchdowns in a season since 1944
  • Earned Ronnie Lott Trophy in his final year at Wisconsin in 2010
