The New York Giants beating the Eagles has them alive and well in the NFC East race.

The last time Daniel Jones and the New York Giants faced the Philadelphia Eagles, the young quarterback became the face of tripping on the road to glory as he literally stumbled short of the goal line on one play while Big Blue ultimately fell in the waning seconds.

This time around in Week 10, Jones ran with conviction and propelled New York to a 27-17 win. The Giants are now 3-7 on the season and, while the record isn’t pretty, beating your rival is a feeling that is to be enjoyed and consumed. More importantly, the Giants are just a half-game back of the Eagles in the NFC East now.

While Jones had no passing touchdowns, his 244 passing yards and long rushing touchdown set the tone for New York. Wayne Gallman had 53 yards rushing and two touchdowns that helped New York establish the line of scrimmage.

Defensively, the Giants held Carson Wentz in check while allowing touchdowns to both Boston Scott and Miles Sanders. Still, in a league that has become more of a pass-system, to have no touchdowns through the air gives Joe Judge a feeling of appeasement.

The Giants are showing signs of life at a time when they were expected to fail.

In a division like the NFC East where it’s likely the winner will have a sub-.500 record and be bounced from the postseason early, the Giants seem to have found a groove. Is it enough to win them six straight games and the division title? Probably not. However, it is Judge’s first season on the job so he deserves a chance.

Furthermore, it would be foolish to say Daniel Jones is a superstar. However, he did get the victory and, in the NFL, wins matter. Of course, he must consistently step up his game should he want to prove why he was taken No. 6 overall, a heavy burden to bear.

As for the Giants as a whole, though, it’s a satisfying feeling to beat a team like the Eagles who escaped with a win on their home turf with a late touchdown catch. New York isn’t going to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. But in a year where it often looked like hope was lost, the fact that they are now a half-game back of a playoff berth is something Jones and the rest of the franchise can take solace in.
