Antonio Brown: Latest reported incident sends red flags waving again
Trouble continues to follow Antonio Brown as another erratic incident has come to light.
When Antonio Brown signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the rules were set in stone by head coach Bruce Arians in regards to his behavior and his role: Be a team player or be gone.
So far, everything seemed to be going smoothly until another story unfolded. According to the Miami Herald‘s David Ovalle, before Brown signed with the Buccaneers, he was accused of destroying a security camera in a gated community in Florida.
Hollywood Oaks Association president Sylvia Berman said in a statement to police that charges were not filed due to a belief that the crime committed was a minor and that Brown agreed to replace the equipment.
Brown’s spokeswoman released a statement noting that Brown “regrets that he lost his cool that day and he has made amends with the HOA.” Additionally, the statement expresses how Brown felt that he is being “targeted for mistreatment and undue scrutiny”.
The Buccaneers organization has since released a statement regarding the incident, stating that they were aware of the report but that the wide receiver had been a model citizen since joining the Buccaneers.
Antonio Brown has loads of baggage but what do the Bucs do now?
Even if Brown is indeed cleared of any issues in this situation, it goes without mentioning that wherever Brown has been since he left Pittsburgh, the baggage that follows continues to expand at a higher rate.
When in Oakland, the only resident of the Black Hole was the franchise themselves after having dug themselves deep enough with Browns’ issues. Those issues, of course, included a helmet, frostbitten feet, posting of a fine letter and more. Eventually, the Raiders escaped with not paying Brown a dime in guaranteed money, though they lost draft picks.
He then landed in New England, despite allegations of sexual misconduct, he seemed to be fitting in with the Patriots, catching a touchdown in his lone game. But more allegations regarding the previous claims, including sending threatening messages to the accusers, came to light. This led to Brown’s release. But Brady obviously wanted to give Brown another opportunity to team up in Tampa Bay.
Brady vouched for Brown twice and, so far — especially if Brown is punished for the security camera incident and eventually let go — it will be the second time the wide receiver has let down the future Hall of Famer. Tampa Bay knew what they were getting into when they took the chance. And this only adds to the already precarious position.
