2020 NFL Power Rankings, Week 11: Patriots stun Ravens, Cardinals win on Hail Murray
By Randy Gurzi
For a while, the game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Carolina Panthers was a close contest. Carolina scored first when tight end Colin Thomspon caught his first-career pass, a seven-yard touchdown. D.J. Moore added another first-quarter touchdown and Joey Slye hit a 46-yard field goal to go up 17-10. Tampa Bay did tie it up with a Mike Evans touchdown at the end of the first half, but it seemed as though this one would come down to the wire.
That wasn’t the case, however, as the Buccaneers exploded in the second half with 29 points. Carolina’s defense was gashed several times, including surrendering a 98-yard touchdown run from Ronald Jones, who had 192 total yards on the day.
Carolina was again without Christian McCaffrey and it showed. They had 65 yards on the ground and the inability to get the ball moving with the running attack allowed the Bucs to put the clamps on Teddy Bridgewater. The Panthers starting quarterback finished with 136 yards passing with two touchdowns and a pick.
At one point, the Panthers were 3-2 and it seemed as though they could be a surprise team in the NFC. But this loss was their fifth-straight as they are now 3-7 and their best bet now is to start thinking about what they need to do in order to improve in 2021.
